Öktem&Aykut is a contemporary art gallery based in Istanbul. Founded in 2014, the gallery aspires to build up bridges that formerly haven’t been built up within the Turkish contemporary art scene, to develop a certain artistic understanding that is rather organized through the theory of aesthetics, to lead a younger generation of artists and art appreciators and to strenghten the inter-generational connections within the Turkish art circles. Öktem&Aykut aims contemporary art to be commended by larger populations and quality Turkish contemporary art to be acknowledged internationally. The gallery’s name comes from the surnames of its two founder-directors, Doğa Öktem and Tankut Aykut.
